Overview
XTO Energy knows the X's and O's of a successful oil and gas strategy. It buys and develops mostly long-lived producing properties, but also invests in the exploration of unproved reserves. The large independent's holdings are mainly in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, although it also has assets in Appalachia and the North Sea. XTO Energy owns interests in more than 33,280 wells and operates gas gathering systems primarily in Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. In 2008 it reported proved reserves of 11.8 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas, 268 million barrels of oil, and 76 million barrels of natural gas liquids.
