Not to be confused with the anti-anxiety drug (Xanax), Xantech designs and manufactures home and commercial audio/video distribution and control systems. Its lineup includes amplifiers, speakers, infrared receivers, remotes, interface modules, volume controls, connecting blocks, and emitters. Xantech markets its products directly and through distributors, to installers in America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The company touts more than 2 million systems working worldwide. Founded in 1969, Xantech is a subsidiary of building products maker and distributor Nortek (NTK Holdings). Xantech and Nortek affiliates filed a Chapter 13 prepackaged plan of reorganization in October 2009, swiftly emerging in December.
