Wine Group Company Description

The cat's out of the bag about bag-in-the-box wine. The Wine Group's Franzia, which comes in a box, dominates US boxed wines. One of the largest wine producers in the US, The Wine Group (TWG) offers bargain wines, both bottled and boxed. Its brand names include Corbett Canyon, Mogen David Kosher, Glen Ellen, and Italian Casarsa. Once part of The Coca-Cola Company, the group is a partnership that was formed in 1981 in order to buy Franzia Bros., Mogen David, and Tribuno. TWG also operates Underdog Wine Merchants, which offers offbeat wines such as Pinot Evil, Herding Cats, Big House, Cardinal Zin, and Tempra Tantrum, which are designed to appeal to younger consumers.
