Founded in 1855 as a normal school (teacher's college) for the city of Paterson, New Jersey, William Paterson University has evolved into a fully accredited liberal-arts university. William Paterson, which has 350 full-time faculty members, enrolls about 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and offers more than 50 academic programs through five colleges. The university has a 370-acre campus with some 40 major buildings and other facilities, including the David and Lorraine Cheng Library, which boasts more than 350,000 bound volumes. Tuition and fees are $9,422 for full-time students who are residents. William Paterson is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
