Westpac Banking has more than 1,200 branches in Australia, New Zealand, and neighboring Pacific islands. It is the second largest among Australia's major banks -- National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. The company operates in six segments: consumer financial services, business financial services, BT Financial Group Australia (investment services), Westpac Institutional Bank (corporate financial services), Pacific banking, and New Zealand Banking (operating as the Bank of New South Wales). Westpac Banking was founded in 1817 as the Bank of New South Wales.
