Overview

Squeaky hinges are the stuff horror movie nightmares -- and WD-40's dreams -- are made of. The company's WD-40 product -- used as a lubricant, rust preventative, penetrant, and moisture displacer -- is a staple in most US homes. The omnipresent blue-and-yellow aerosol can contains the slippery stuff of myth, said to combat arthritis and attract fish, as well as unstick locks and loosen rusted bolts. WD-40 and 3-IN-ONE Oil account for most of its sales. It also makes household cleaning and deodorizing products under the brands X-14, Carpet Fresh, No Vac, Spot Shot, 1001, and 2000 Flushes and heavy duty hand cleaners Lava and Solvol. WD-40 relies on contract manufacturers to do the actual making of its products.
