Walt Disney Feature Animation Company Description
Walt Disney Feature Animation (Disney Animation) may like computers, but the studio hasn't completely ditched its pens and pencils. The unit of Walt Disney Studios develops and produces animated films for the Mickey Mouse empire. Traditionally a leader in two-dimensional animated films, Disney Animation temporarily abandoned the hand drawn efforts after repeatedly losing ground at the box office to its computer generated rivals such as DreamWorks Animation and CGI leader Pixar. It released its first all digital feature, Chicken Little, in 2005 to good grosses. Disney acquired Pixar in 2006. The following year the company announced plans to resurrect the practice of creating hand-drawn (two-dimensional) films.
