Overview
W. R. Grace & Co. operates through two major units. Grace's Davison -- which accounts for two-thirds of sales -- makes silica-based products, chemical catalysts, packaging sealants, and refining catalysts that produce refined products from crude oil. This unit has a refining joint venture with Chevron. Grace's second unit, Construction Products, manufactures concrete and cement additives, fireproofing chemicals, and specialty building materials, such as roofing underlayment and deck protectors. Customers include chemicals companies, oil refiners, and construction firms. A US federal judge confirmed the company's reorganization plan in 2011, paving the way for an exit from a decade of bankruptcy.
