Vonage Holdings is working to ring in a new era of communications. The company's computer telephony service enables customers to turn their high-speed Internet connections into long-distance phone lines. A leading provider of broadband Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony services, the company has about 2.4 million subscriber lines in operation. Its service enables customers to make and receive calls using their computers. Vonage primarily serves consumers in the US, but it also has a number of small business clients and it does business in Canada and the UK. The company markets its services directly and through such retail partners as Wal-Mart and Frys Electronics.
