Volvo Company Description
Despite the fact that the name "Volvo" conjures up more visions of soccer moms than of burly truck drivers, AB Volvo has parked its car business. The company is now a leading maker of trucks, buses, and construction equipment as well as marine (Volvo Penta), aircraft (Volvo Aero), and industrial engines. The company's most widely known business -- auto making -- was sold to US-based carmaker Ford Motor Company. The sale enabled Volvo to focus on its remaining units, particularly trucks. Its other interests include full control of the famous Mack Trucks brand in North America and Renault Trucks in Europe.
