Volcom Company Description

Volcom says it's "youth against establishment," and this establishment comes down firmly on the side of youth -- skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding youth in hoodies and chinos. The company designs and makes board sports apparel and accessories for men, women, and kids. It also operates about 20 retail stores in the US and abroad. In addition to Volcom outlets, the firm's gear is available through online retailers, major department stores (Macy's, Nordstrom), and specialty shops (Zumiez, Pacific Sunwear) in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Longtime surfer and former marketer for surf wear giant and rival Quiksilver, Richard Woolcott (chairman and CEO), founded Volcom in 1991. He owns about 15% of the firm.
