Vimpel-Communications (VimpelCom) has made a beeline to become a leading mobile phone service provider in Russia. Offering its services primarily under the Bee Line brand, the company has more than 50 million mobile subscribers across Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Georgia. Most VimpelCom subscribers use the prepaid plan on VimpelCom's GSM network. The company owns wireless licenses that cover 96% of the Russian population.
