The company produces coated and supercalendered paper and pulp for some 100 clients, including publishers (like Time, which produces the above mentioned magazines), commercial printers, specialty retail merchandisers, and paper merchants throughout North America. Its products are primarily used for magazines, catalogs, brochures, annual reports, and direct mail advertising. The company operates 11 paper machines at four mills located in Maine, Michigan, and Minnesota. The company went public in mid-2008. Previous sole shareholder Apollo Advisors still controls 73% Verso Paper.
