Universal Pictures Company Description
It takes more than A Beautiful Mind to run a movie studio, but having one certainly helps. Universal Pictures produces and distributes movies such as critically acclaimed dramas (Children of Men), action flicks (The Bourne Ultimatum), and comedies (Knocked Up). Universal Pictures, together with specialty film producer Focus Features (Brokeback Mountain) and genre label Rogue Pictures (Hot Fuzz), make up the motion picture arm of Universal Studios. In 2004, previous parent company Vivendi (then called Vivendi Universal) sold the studio (along with other entertainment assets) to GE (parent company of NBC), to create NBC Universal. The deal created one of the world's largest media and entertainment companies.
