Overview
This studio hopes its media projects will have universal appeal. Universal Television is the TV production arm of media conglomerate NBCUniversal. Formerly Universal Media Studios, the unit primarily produces primetime drama and comedy series for its flagship NBC network, such as The Office, 30 Rock, Parenthood, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. It creates late night programming, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Saturday Night Live. Universal TV also supplies other networks with programming, including the medical drama House on FOX. NBCUniversal simplified Universal Media Studios' name to Universal TV in 2011 to emphasis its goal of producing quality television.
