United Way Company Description
Where there's a will, there's a Way. United Way of America (UWA) unites about 1,300 local United Way organizations that work to raise money for charitable causes. Priorities are set by local organizations, but United Way groups tend to focus on helping children and families and on improving access to health care. Major recipients of United Way contributions have included American Cancer Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Catholic Charities, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and The Salvation Army, among others. United Way groups raise money primarily through an annual campaign conducted in workplaces. United Way organizations also receive government grants and corporate contributions.
