Overview
United Maritime Group brings together operating units engaged in the transportation of dry bulk commodities in the US. The company maintains fleets of about a dozen ocean-going vessels and about 80 river barges; it also operates a transfer and storage terminal and related logistics services. Its ocean-going fleet, made up of US-flag vessels, has an overall capacity of about 400,000 deadweight tons (DWT). Commodities handled by the company include coal, grain, petroleum coke, and phosphate. United Maritime Group was known as TECO Transport before December 2007, when its former parent, electric utility TECO Energy, sold it to an investment group led by an affiliate of Miami-based Greenstreet Equity Partners.
