A leading independent US drilling contractor, Union Drilling unifies hydrocarbons and pipelines via the drill bit. With 71 drilling rigs (50 of which are set up for drilling horizontal wells), the company provides contract land drilling services, primarily in the Appalachian Basin, where 32 of its rigs are located. Union Drilling operates in Arkansas, Colorado, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. The company drilled wells for 114 different customers in 2007. Union Drilling is controlled by a unit of Morgan Stanley.
