UK Coal Company Description
You might say UK Coal is a merry old soul. Established more than three decades ago as RJB Mining, UK Coal is the largest producer of coal in Britain, supplying nearly 10% of the country's energy needs for electricity. It owns and operates four underground mines located in Central and Northern England and another seven surface mines. The company controls about 200 million tons of proved and probable reserves. UK Coal also owns a power generation business that uses waste gas from mines to generate electricity. The company also has worked with the Peel Group to develop wind energy projects in the UK.
