U.S. Bancorp Company Description

Not quite a bank for the entire US, U.S. Bancorp has more than 2,500 locations and almost 5,000 branded ATMs in two dozen midwestern and western states. The bank holding company, one of the 10 largest in the country, owns U.S. Bank and other subsidiaries that provide consumer and commercial banking, as well as credit card processing, mutual funds, mortgage banking, wealth management, corporate payment services, equipment leasing, trust services, and insurance. In late 2008 U.S. Bancorp acquired the banking operations of the failed California-based banks Downey Savings & Loan and PFF Bank & Trust in an FDIC-assisted transaction.
