U. S. Silica Company Description
Life's a beach for the sand-sellers at U. S. Silica. The industrial mineral company provides silica and aplite for the glass, foundry, chemical, and construction industries; and fine ground silica and kaolin clay used to make paint, plastics, and ceramics. It also produces Florisil absorbent materials, FilPro municipal water treatment filtration sands and gravel, Zeobest swimming pool filtration media, and PROformance golf sand. In addition to its main facility in West Virginia, U. S. Silica also has plants in a dozen states in the Eastern half of the US. The company was formed by the merger of Pennsylvania Glass and Ottawa Silica in 1987.
