Sharper Image is busy reshaping its own image. After shutting down its retail operations in the US, TSIC licenses the Sharper Image brand to manufacturers and distributors of consumer electronics, kitchen appliances, travel gear, and health and beauty products. Its branded merchandise is available nationwide in such stores as Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, J. C. Penney, Macys, and OfficeMax. The company was acquired out of bankruptcy in May 2008 by a joint venture led by units of private-equity firms Hilco Consumer Capital and Gordon Brothers Group.
