Overview
TRT Holdings has interests in guest pampering, iron pumping, and oil prospecting. A diversified holding company for Texas billionaire Robert Rowling, TRT owns the luxury Omni Hotel chain. TRT Holdings also has a stake in hospitality firm Gaylord Entertainment (owner of the Grand Ole Opry and the iconic Opryland Hotel in Nashville) and owns Gold's Gym International, a global franchiser of fitness centers. In addition, the company is involved in oil and gas exploration through Tana Exploration Company. Rowling and his father, Reese Rowling, made a fortune in the oil business through Tana Oil & Gas. They formed TRT Holdings in 1989 when they sold most of their energy interests to Texaco (now part of Chevron).
