Siwa is the largest with about 540 locations, followed by Valintatalo with some 180 shops, and Euromarket with about 20 locations. Suomen Lähikauppa's business plan is to provide Finns with an alternative to large supermarkets by building a network of small grocery stores close to where they live. It also hopes to court elderly and environmentally conscious customers who prefer to shop close to home. The company changed its name to Suomen Lähikauppa Oy (Finnish for "Finland's Local Store") in 2008.
