Overview
Tortuga Rum makes the only sports drink approved by pirates of the Caribbean. Despite its name, the company does not focus on liquid rum, but rather on rum cakes, including chocolate, coconut, coffee, and banana varieties. The company's other delectable include rum fudge, rum truffles, gourmet coffees, jellies, and sauces. It also operates a mail-order cake-of-the-month club. Tortuga Rum products are distributed by sister company Tortuga Imports in Miami. Founded in 1984 by Robert and Carlene Hamaty, both managing directors, the company is owned by their daughter, Monique Simmonds, and her husband Marcus.
