The company makes a range of RVs, including motor homes and travel trailers. Brands include the well-known Airstream and Dutchmen lines. It is also a leading US producer of small and midsize buses. Thor has bus and RV plants, as well as distributors, throughout the US and Canada. It also operates a joint venture with Cruise America that rents RVs to the public. The company was formed in 1980 when co-founder and CEO Wade Thompson and co-founder and vice chairman Peter Orthwein purchased the ailing Airstream business.
