Thomas Cook Company Description
Thomas Cook Group is one of the world's largest travel services companies. Catering primarily to the European market, the group operates a fleet of more than 90 aircraft (through Thomas Cook Airlines) and maintains a network of more than 3,400 owned or franchised travel offices. It primarily operates under the Airtours, Condor, Direct Holidays, Neckermann, Sunquest, Ving, and Thomas Cook brands. In 2007 Thomas Cook expanded significantly when it acquired fellow European travel services provider MyTravel Group for around $5.5 billion. In September 2009 bankrupt holding company Arcandor AG (which operates German retail chain KARSTADT QUELLE) turned over its controlling stake of Thomas Cook to its lenders.
