The Ryland Group Company Description
The Ryland Group has built its business on a firm foundation. The homebuilder constructs single-family detached homes, as well as attached condominiums for entry-level, first- and second-time move-up, and retired buyers. Ryland has constructed more than 280,000 homes in the US, with prices generally ranging between $100,000 and $500,000 (averaging $252,000). Subcontractors perform virtually all of the construction, which is managed by Ryland supervisors. The group also provides mortgage financing, including title, settlement, escrow, and insurance services, through Ryland Mortgage. The company was founded by James P. Ryan and Bob Gaw in 1967 under its original name, The James P. Ryan Company.
