Overview
Telephonics has come a long way from headphones. The company, founded in 1933 as a manufacturer of headsets for military aircraft, today is a maker of communications equipment for military and commercial customers through four business segments. Its communications systems unit makes interior communications and audio distribution systems, as well as wireless products and television surveillance systems. The radar systems unit makes maritime surveillance radar, and its electronic systems specializes in air traffic control, landing, and guidance systems, as well as homeland security. Its systems engineering group provides analysis of air and missile defense threat and combat and radar systems engineering.
