Austria's largest telecommunications provider, Telekom Austria keeps the hills alive with conversation. The former monopoly provides both retail and wholesale traditional fixed-line telephone services such as local and long-distance, as well as Internet access and data communications. It has more than 2.6 million access lines serving both business and residential customers across the country and has telecom holdings in central and southeastern Europe. Its wireless subsidiary, mobilkom austria, has more than 3 million customers at home and more than 6.6 million clients through its international holdings. Nearly 50 retail shops provide sales and service. The Austrian government owns 25% of the company.
