TECNOCOM Company Description
TECNOCOM has gone telecom but hasn't forgotten its roots. Formerly IB-MEI, the holding company once known primarily for manufacturing motors for household appliances now focuses on building telecom networks. A direct supplier of Telefónica Móviles and a contractor for Siemens and Vodafone, TECNOCOM is helping to upgrade the GSM/GPRS infrastructure and develop UMTS in Spain. The company also has joint venture projects, such as one with the city of Madrid called Metrocall, tasked with building a mobile phone network along metro tunnels. Still making electric motors, TECNOCOM developed high-speed motors used in some 15 million washing machines.
