EDMONTON -- It was an environmental disaster that made international headlines and deepened concerns about Alberta's oilsands industry. Now the province has finished its investigation into how 500 ducks died last spring in the toxic sludge of an oilsands tailings pond operated by Syncrude Canada. It expects to decide by the end of August whether to prosecute Syncrude.
