It's good to have gas in Surgut. Based in the Siberian provincial city of Surgut, Surgutneftegas has emerged as one of Russia's largest integrated oil companies. Production association Surgutneftegas became a joint stock company in 1993, as part of the privatization of Russia's oil industry. Surgutneftegas produces 65.5 million tons of oil and 14.6 billion cubic meters of gas a year. The company owns and operates pipelines, refineries, about 300 gas stations, and oil storage tanks. It also constructs power transmission lines and builds roads as part of its business.
