Sumitomo Life Company Description
One of Japan's biggest mutual life insurers (along with Nippon Life and Dai-ichi Mutual Life). The firm sells individual, group life, and specialized health policies through about 80 branch offices and nearly 2,000 district offices. Along with its sales force, Sumitomo Life sells its products through a network of hundreds of financial institutions. It also administers pension plans and, through subsidiary Sumisei General, offers auto insurance. Sumitomo Life has a pension management joint venture with Mitsui Life. Sumitomo Life, which has operations in China, the UK, the US, is part of the Sumitomo Mitsui keiretsu -- a group of firms linked by cross-ownership.
