You might say that Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI) produces the wide world of wire. The company is Japan's largest producer of wire and cable and has more than 200 companies and affiliates around the globe. SEI's electric wire and cable division makes power and telecommunications cables, as well as the ultrafine wire used in electronic components and semiconductors. Other products include automotive wiring harnesses, optical fiber cables, fiber-optic components, and related subsystems. In addition to wire and cable accessories, SEI also makes anti-vibration rubber parts and brake systems found in automobiles. The company gets nearly two-thirds of its sales in Japan.
