Stodir Company Description
Stodir invests primarily in companies in the property, financial services, and retail industries. Formerly named FL Group, the company previously focused on aviation and travel-related investments. It sold its stakes in Icelandair and AMR (the parent of American Airlines) and changed its strategy to focus on financial and property investments. Its current portfolio includes stakes in Iceland-based real estate firm Landic Property and insurance company HM. In 2008, the company was set to acquire a 39% stake in retail investment group Baugur in a share swap when Baugur sold off its Iceland assets and the deal with Stodir was called off. Soon after, Stodir filed for bankruptcy.
