Sterling Sugars creates splendid sweetness. The company processes sugarcane to make raw sugar, cane syrup, and blackstrap molasses for sale to sugar refiners and candy and other food manufacturers. Sterling Sugars owns cane cropland, which supplies 35% of the company's raw material. the other 65% is purchased from other growers. It processes about 1.25 million tons of cane per year at its mill in Franklin, Louisiana. Sterling also leases land for oil and natural gas exploration. The company is a subsidiary of M A Patout & Son; it was taken private by shareholders in 2005. Sterling Sugarswas founded in 1807.
