Overview

Genting Hong Kong (formerly Star Cruises) is one of the world's leading cruise line operators, behind industry leaders Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Together with 50%-owned NCL, Genting Hong Kong maintains a fleet of 15-plus vessels under the Star Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line brands with about 35,000 berths overall. The company's ships range from the SuperStar Virgo (2,000-passenger capacity) to the MegaStar Taurus, designed for private charters. On land, the company has an interest in hotels in the Philippines. Controlled by entities associated with Malaysian holding company Genting, the cruise line operator changed its name to Genting Hong Kong Ltd. in 2009 when it expanded into land-based ventures.
