A major distributor of magazines in the US and Canada, the firm also markets music CDs, DVDs, and video games to retailers through its Alliance Entertainment subsidiary. Major customers include Barnes & Noble, which accounts for about 20% of sales. In addition to distribution, Source Interlink publishes special-interest magazines, such as Motor Trend, Soap Opera Digest, and Stereophile. It also owns and produces content for about 90 Web sites. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April 2009 and emerged in June as a privately-held company.
