Overview
Sonaecom deals with the constantly sonant and the electronic sonic. The Portuguese company is the subsidiary of the Sonae Group involved in the areas of mobile communications, fixed communications, multimedia, and the Internet. Its mobile phone network, Optimus, is one of only three such companies in Portugal. Additional subsidiaries include WeDo (business and multimedia consulting), home (the home phone with no monthly fee), Clix (an Internet service provider), and Novis (a fixed-line telephone operator). France Télécom in 2005 purchased about 24% of the company; it already owned more than 40% of Novis and 20% of Optimus. Sonae Group owns the remaining controlling interest.
