Smurfit Kappa Group is a world champion of boxing. As a top maker of containerboard and corrugated boxes, the company is also a leading wastepaper recycler. It produces containerboard and converts it into corrugated cases, folding cartons, paper sacks, tubes, and composite cans. Other products include boxboard, sack kraft paper, and printing and writing paper. The company produces 6 million tons of paper annually and has 300 facilities worldwide. Private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners owned a majority stake in Smurfit Kappa prior to the company going public in 2007.
