Sling Media Company Description
Sling Media has a cure for anyone who suffers separation anxiety when they're away from television too long. The company's Slingbox product allows customers to remotely access and control their televisions via a computer. Its hardware and software is compatible with cable and satellite broadcast services, as well as digital video recorders. The Slingbox line includes models that add features such as built-in tuners and the ability to stream high-definition video. Sling Media was acquired by EchoStar Communications (now DISH Network) for $380 million in 2007; it was spun off as part of EchoStar Corporation in 2008.
