Skyworks Company Description
The sky's the limit for Skyworks Solutions' wireless ambitions. Skyworks makes integrated circuits (ICs) and discrete semiconductors that are used by manufacturers such as Motorola, Nokia, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications (about 18% of sales), and Samsung Electronics (14%) in their wireless telephone handsets and infrastructure gear. Skyworks, which built its name as a military contractor, makes its ICs out of gallium arsenide (GaAs), a material that performs at higher speeds and with less energy consumption than industry-standard silicon. The company gets more than 80% of its sales from customers in the Asia/Pacific region.
