Sky Network Television Company Description

Sky Network Television turns Kiwis into couch potatoes. As New Zealand's dominant pay-TV provider, it broadcasts via UHF and using digital direct broadcast satellite (DBS). With signals that now cover the whole country, Sky has more than 600,000 subscribers (more than 85% of them digital customers). Sky offers about 85 digital channels to subscribers, including sports, movie, music, pay-per-view, and special interest channels. Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation owns a substantial stake in Sky, which was held through holding company Independent Newspapers (INL) until 2005 when INL and Sky merged. Following the merger, News Corp. owns 44% of Sky.
