Overview
Sinochem, which was formerly called China National Chemicals Import & Export, deals primarily in petrochemicals distribution, but also in rubber, plastics, and fertilizer. Founded in 1950, the state-owned company is China's largest trading company and its first multinational conglomerate. It operates through more than 100 subsidiaries in China and abroad in concerns ranging from petroleum trading to real estate. One of only a handful Chinese companies ranked in FORTUNE magazine's Global 500, Sinochem has diversified into technology, finance, and information businesses.
