Overview
Unlike Superman, Siderar really is made of steel -- flat-rolled steel. The company is Argentina's largest producer of flat-rolled steel and is part of the growing steel company Ternium, which owns about 60% of Siderar. The company uses iron ore and coal as raw materials to make hot- and cold-rolled steel sheets and coated products, including hot dip galvanized, pre-painted, and tin-plate sheets and coils. Its galvanized products are used in roofs and ceilings, air conditioning ducts, purlings and panels, car bodies, and drains and rail guards for highways, railroads, and airports. Ternium has joined together several South American steel companies, including Siderar, Mexico's Hylsamex and what was Grupo Imsa.
