Shell Martinez Refinery Company Description
Just like a charm school, Shell Martinez Refinery refines crude products. The Shell Oil Products US unit refines and markets gasoline for retail outlets in California. In addition to gasoline (85% of production), the refinery makes asphalt, diesel, jet turbine fuel, petroleum coke, propane, residual fuel oils (for ships and industrial boilers), and sulfur. Shell Martinez Refinery (which processes about 165,000 barrels of crude a day) traces its roots back to 1913 when the American Gasoline Company built a terminal to import gasoline; Shell's first US refinery was in operation at the site in 1915.
