Schottenstein Stores Corporation
Overview
Schottenstein Stores is where the Schottenstein family stores its retail holdings. The investment firm owns interests Value City Furniture (about 125 superstores located primarily in the eastern US), about 5% of casual clothing chain American Eagle Outfitters (some 1,100 mall stores in the US and Canada), and retail liquidator SB Capital Group, as well as 50 shopping centers. Other holdings include Steuben Glass. Schottenstein Stores was the majority owner of Retail Ventures, a holding company whose last remaining operating business was its controlling stake in the discount shoe retailer DSW. However DSW in 2011 bought out Retail Ventures in an all-stock deal valued at $773 million.
