The holding company owns Banco Santander Puerto Rico, one of the largest banks in the commonwealth, providing commercial, consumer, and mortgage banking services through more than 60 branches and about 150 ATMs on the island, and on the Web. Business loans (about 60% of the bank's loan portfolio) and construction loans (some 20%) dominate the bank's lending activities. Subsidiaries provide securities brokerage, asset management, insurance, consumer lending, and international banking services. It is a subsidiary of Spain's Grupo Santander.
