San Antonio Spurs Company Description

The San Antonio Spurs professional basketball franchise was formed by Bob Folsom in 1967 as the Dallas Chaparrals of the American Basketball Association. The team moved to San Antonio in 1973 and joined the National Basketball Association when the leagues merged in 1976. The Spurs boast four NBA championship titles, its last in 2007. Peter Holt, whose family owns a statewide Caterpillar dealership (Holt CAT), has controlled the team since 1996. He also owns the San Antonio Silver Stars of the WNBA and the San Antonio Rampage of the Arena Football League.
